A Complementary Duo of Dinky Notebooks

I made a couple of little notebooks using my wizard bookbinding skills. Although I don't suppose you would call this a binding in the traditional sense.

I used redundant catalog cards from the college library for the pages (they weren't going to be used again, damn you computers and your library databases!). The covers are backed with some handprinted fabric offcuts I got from a woodblock artist in Eugene, with purple fancy paper for the end pages. The pages are held together with those little keyring things, making use of the holes punched in the cards when they go in those fancy old card catalog cabinets. You ought to be able to remove or rearrange the pages.

The brown notebook has the category cards, the very slightly smaller green notebook has the individual entries and dewey numbers. I gave them to my friends Jen and Lucy, I hope they will make teacherly notes in them, for they are teacherly types. Or they could write down shopping lists, ideas, inspirations, or the inappropriate things that people say.

PDX Houses

While I was visiting home during the summer I came across all the prints I made during my awesome, amazing, inspirational, huggable Reed intaglio printmaking class. I also found a lot of other artistic rubbish (mostly in the junk section of the attic) that I have produced in my student art career, but I thought this lot was better fit for public exposure. Here's a series of three etchings I made of buildings in Portland. My obsession with this kind of American architecture pretty much starts here, and rabidly continues today.

Likes: Lakes, Lighting, Ladies

Came across a stack of postcards and pictures I had up in my room year before last. I like to have pictures up around my room to have something inspiring to look at, optimistically hoping this will lead to creation of great works, masterpieces etc. More than that it's just nice to collect images that resonate with you, know what I mean? I guess this here assortment of disparate pictures must represent a cross-section of my aesthetic taste, but I don't know what you'd say about that.

The cat was dressed like a samurai.

We have been playing an awesome drawing game lately which is a combination of Pictionary, Chines Whispers and Consequences. We like to call it "Picsequences". In any case, you start out with a statement, someone else draws it, covers up the sentence, passes it on, next person writes what they see in the picture, passes it on, next person draws that sentence, and so on. So you end up with an entirely different sentence than the one you started with. The following may only be funny if you were there, but never mind. You all can suck it. (JK!)
